Last week, Duncan Macmillan’s adaptation of Henrick Ibsen’s political drama, Rosmersholm, opened at the Duke Of York’s Theatre and we’ve got a sneak peek at this eagerly anticipated production.

The Ibsen masterpiece stars TV and theatre regular Tom Burke as John Rosmer, Marvel’s Hayley Atwell as Rebecca West, and Olivier Award-winner Giles Terera as Andreas Kroll.

Originally written in 1886, Rosmersholm follows the former clergyman and heir to an influential dynasty, John Rosmer. While his country is in political turmoil, John hides in Rosmersholm – his family’s grand manor. At his lowest, following the suicide of his wife, John confides in his childhood friend and infatuation, the free-thinking Rebecca, but their relationship becomes problematic when John becomes torn between the hope of future prosperity and the lingering ghosts of his past.

Take a look at Johan Persson’s stunning production photos below.
