The smash-hit Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons musical Jersey Boys is to conclude a hugely successful nine year stint in the West End on Sunday 26 March 2017.
The announcement gives London theatregoers six months to witness the Olivier Award for Best New Musical-winning show at the Piccadilly Theatre, but it’s not Bye Bye Baby for the acclaimed production, as it will then embark on a second national tour.
Producer Michael David said, “When we brought Jersey Boys here nine years ago, we hoped it was a good idea and that West End audiences would embrace it, but you never imagine it’ll multiply and resonate as much as it has.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the cast and crew who gave their all every night, and are profoundly grateful to the audiences who returned that energy without fail. Our time in London has been extraordinary, and we hope audiences around the UK will continue to embrace Jersey Boys as we bring the show to their hometowns.”
Jersey Boys first opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in March 2008, transferring to the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2014, and tells the remarkable true story of the rise to fame and stardom of one of the most iconic pop quartets in history.
Starting on the wrong side of the tracks – and often the law – they went on to sell 175 million records worldwide before the age of 30, with numerous hits in the show including Sherry, 1963 (Oh What A Night), Big Girls Don’t Cry, Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got), Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Who Loves You.
Nationwide audiences can look forward to the show Working Its Way Back To You, starting at the New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham in December 2017, while London theatregoers will need to Walk Like A Man to the Piccadilly Theatre before March 2017 to experience this lauded musical, which currently stars Matt Corner as Frankie Valli.
