Potted Panto, the irreverent romp through classic pantomimes, is to return to the West End this Christmas following an Olivier-nominated run last festive season.
The production is the latest show from Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, the CBBC duo better known as Dan and Jeff who found stage success with Potted Potter, which reduced all seven of JK Rowling’s famous Harry Potter books into one fast-paced show.
Potted Panto, which plays at the Vaudeville theatre from 18 December to 8 January, sees the duo apply their ‘potted’ style to classic tales including Cinderella, Dick Whittington, Aladdin and Jack And The Beanstalk. With the help of some judicious props and costumes, the double-act race through eight pantomimes in eighty minutes – that’s one more panto than last year – as they try and work out how two people can play seven dwarves and which of them will make the prettiest princess.
The show, which is directed and co-written by Richard Hurst, was nominated for a Best Entertainment Olivier Award earlier this year following its first festive run in the West End.
Meanwhile Potted Potter, which is currently enjoying a return visit to the West End, has extended its stay at the Garrick theatre to 2 September. It had been booking to 29 August.
