It’s all change for the Olivier Award-winning hit comedy The Play That Goes Wrong as a brand new cast gets set to have West End audiences in stitches from 19 August.
One of London theatre’s most exciting rags to riches stories in recent years, the deliberately disastrous farce about an amateur dramatics society staging a murder mystery was created by Mischief Theatre, an improvised comedy group formed by graduates from LAMDA drama school.
From its beginnings as a one-act show at the Old Red Lion Theatre, it transferred to Trafalgar Studio 2 before heading for its current triumphant – not to mention multi award-winning – West End run at the Duchess Theatre.
Following in the loyal footsteps of its current cast, which includes Mischief Theatre’s Artistic Director Henry Lewis, the second West End cast comprises a line-up of performers who are all existing members of the company.
The show’s current lead understudy Leonard Cook will be joined by Bryony Corrigon and Niall Ransome, both of whom have appeared in Mischief’s Edinburgh Festival hit Lights! Camera! Improvise!, alongside Harry Kershaw, Laura Kirman, Chris Leask, James Marlowe and Laurence Pears who are currently touring the company’s Peter Pan Goes Wrong.
