Icicle BicycleIcicle Bicycle, which ran at the Half Moon Young People’s Theatre in November, returns for a longer season this January-March, alongside the theatre’s new programme of Saturday shows for children.
Telling the story of Spike and Bella, who follow their Grandma’s footsteps through the snow to a fantastical world, Chris Elwell’s Icicle Bicycle plays at Half Moon on selected days from 8 January to 1 March, while also touring to venues around the UK during the same period. The story is performed in English and fully integrated British Sign Language and accompanied by a continuous jazz-inspired soundscape.
The theatre’s season of professional Saturday shows for children and young people continues this winter/spring, featuring puppetry, mime, mayhem and music from a host of theatre companies, many of whom are regular visitors to Half Moon. The season commences on 12 January with Long Nose Puppets’s Flyaway Katie, featuring music by Tom Gray of Gomez, and continues with: The King’s Got Donkey’s Ears by Theatre of Widdershins (19 Jan), Tam Tam theatre’s Dreamtree (26 Jan), The Nightingale by Angel Heart theatre (2 Feb), Lyngo’s Circus Minimus (9 Feb), a retelling of Alice And The White Rabbit by Indigo Moon theatre (16 Feb), Tabula Rasa Dance Company’s Cabbages And Kings (23 Feb), clown Fraser Hooper’s Inside Out (8 Mar), school-inspired drama Lyrical MC (11 Mar), Red Earth’s The Crane (13 Mar), Shadow Play by Travelling Light (15 Mar), Rags To Witches by JET (22 Mar) and Tell Tale Hearts with A Story For All Seasons (29 Mar). The season finishes with The Elves And The Shoemakers by Mac productions (5 April).
