The cast of School Of Rock The Musical

Our 5 fave School Of Rock The Musical moments

By Kitty Underwood First Published 6 February 2020, Last Updated 17 February 2020

We shed many a tear here at Official London Theatre when we found out that School Of Rock The Musical would be playing its last performance at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 1 March this year.

But all good things must come to an end, and School Of Rock’s last three-and-a-bit years on the West End have been truly great. Never fear, you can still grab tickets for the last three weeks of performances, but please excuse us while we go on a little nostalgic trip down memory lane…

1. Winning the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award at the Olivier Awards 2017

I mean, this had to be our headline one. All the children stood in their tuxes and dresses up on stage to collect their award has gone down as one of the cutest moments in Oliviers history. And of course, their performance on stage that night blew the crowd away. But our favourite clip has to be their backstage interview, crowded excitedly around their shared Olivier Award.

So of course two has to be…

2. Performing Stick It To The Man at the Olivier Awards

…need we say more?

3. Their #TheatreLoungeLive

As part of our Theatre Lounge Live series, we were lucky enough to get Dewey and the kids playing an acoustic version of Stick It To The Man. Afterwards, we chatted to Gary Trainor – who was playing Dewey Finn at the time – about what it was like to be in the show.

4. West End LIVE!

Just look at their little faces. In case you were in *any* doubt that the kids all play their own instruments live, check out the performance they gave at West End LIVE a couple of years ago. Stephen Leask appears as Dewey Finn in this one, with all of the kids giving us big hair envy….

5. When they helped us announce the host for the 2019 Oliviers

While Jason Manford announced his return himself this year, back in 2019, the kids from School Of Rock helped us break the news that he would be back to host the Olivier Awards for the second time. And while the video’s for last year’s awards, you can actually still get tickets to the Olivier Awards 2020 ceremony!

So if you haven’t yet seen School Of Rock or you – like us – want to relive the highlights and grab it one last time before it’s gone, you can still get your tickets through the link below, for the next three weeks and three weeks only!
