Sir Antony Sher is to be joined in the upcoming Tricycle theatre production of Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass by a cast including Nigel Lindsay, Lucy Cohu, Emily Bruni, Madeleine Potter and Brian Protheroe.
Leading man Sher plays Philip Gellburg in Miller’s tale of a Jewish couple living in 1938 New York. When Philip’s wife Sylvia (Cohu) becomes paralysed after reading newspaper reports of Kristallnacht, Dr Harry Hyman (Lindsay) is called in, sparking a relationship that could have devastating consequences for the Gellburgs.
Lindsay is a London stage regular, with previous credits including Awake And Sing and The Homecoming at the Almeida theatre and Guys And Dolls at the Piccadilly theatre. Last seen in London in the Royal Court’s Sucker Punch, Lindsay’s TV credits include Jam And Jerusalem, All About George and the BAFTA-nominated Relief Of Belsen.
Cohu is an Emmy Award-winning actress, collecting the top American accolade for her role as Liz, the wife of a child-abusing husband, in Forgiven. Best known for her TV roles, including Margaret in The Queen’s Sister and Alice Carter in Torchwood, she last appeared in London opposite John Simm in Speaking In Tongues.
Broken Glass begins its run at Kilburn’s Tricycle theatre on 30 September (press night 6 October) following Tiny Kushner (1 to 25 September), an evening of five short plays by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner.
