Tell Us In Ten: Chris Cox

By Hira Desai First Published 15 July 2021, Last Updated 7 November 2024

In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions.

And because we’ve got some super shows in Kids Week 2021, we’re going to be giving you the chance to learn more about the people behind them in our special Kids Week edition.

In today’s interview, we’re talking to multi-award-winning mind reader and TV star Chris Cox who will be starring in Wonderville Magic & Illusion playing at the Palace Theatre from tonight until 30 August.

In this brand new West End show, you and your family can expect the very best in comedy, illusion, magic, entertainment and mystery. An extra reason to love this show is because you, the audience members, are an essential part of the show. Want to know more? Check out our interview with Chris below!

1. My role is…

Mind reader/magician/entertainer

2. My favourite thing about my role is…

Getting to entertain people. I’ve always wanted to be on stage, but I can’t really act, I really can’t dance and you NEVER want to hear me sing. I’m so lucky that I get to do what I love by entertaining people by reading their minds on some of the biggest stages in the world.

3. My least favourite thing about my role is…

It can be totally exhausting and very stressful. I never know till I’m doing my routine whether it’ll work or not, there is so much going on that the audience never sees!

4. The show is perfect for families to enjoy this summer because…

Magic is at its very best when seen live, in a theatre, right in front of your eyes. You’ll laugh, be amazed and be spellbound.

5. I think Kids Week is a great initiative because…

I fell in love with theatre when I was a kid and it’s things like Kids Week which will bring a whole new generation of audiences and performers to the most magical thing in the world – theatre.

6. My earliest memories of theatre are…

Pantomimes at the Bristol Hippodrome where Buttons rode in on a quad bike then when I was a bit older taking myself to see a matinee of Blood Brothers at the Hippodrome and realising how powerful theatre can be.

7. I always knew/didn’t know I wanted to work in theatre…

I always knew I wanted to perform and be on stage. From being one of the babes in Panto, to the Edinburgh Fringe to where I am now. It’s a genuine dream come true.

8. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Panic less. Stress less. Enjoy it more. Live in the moment.

9. In my spare time I like to…

Have a nap and eat nice food.

10. If I could have a superpower for a day, I would choose…

Already got it – be a mind reader!
