Tell Us In Ten: Aimie Atkinson

First Published 4 November 2024, Last Updated 8 November 2024

In our profile series Tell Us In Ten, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From the hardest part of their job to their favourite show, we want to know it all!

This week we caught up with Aimie Atkinson, starring in Figaro: An Original Musical, playing at the London Palladium in February.

1. My route into theatre was…

When I was 19 I won a singing competition called the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre and that’s how I got my first agent and started auditioning.

2. My West End idol is…

I was obsessed with Ruthie Henshall growing up, I wanted to be her. She’s a true triple threat and I’m always in awe of her talent.

3. My colleagues would describe me as…

Goofy probably, but hopefully hard working too!

4. My favourite show is…

West Side Story, it’s the best musical ever written.

5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…

I think Six The Musical, I’d always dreamed of being in a show from its conception and I feel so proud of all we achieved! It’s an honour to be a part of something that is held so dear in people’s hearts.

6. The hardest part about my job is…

The hustle of being an actor can be very draining at times. You can never relax because you’re always thinking ahead to what the next job is.

7. If I wasn’t an actor, I would be…

I love hiking and being in nature with my dogs, so many some sort of hiking tour guide.

8. Something people don’t know about me is…

That I’m a massive introvert who loves nothing more than a cosy night in with my partner and dogs!

9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

My mum always says “it will be alright in the end, and if it’s not alright, it’s not the end”. I often use this when coping with the inevitable rejection within the industry.

10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Don’t be afraid of failing, you learn so much from your failures and you become a better person, and actor.

A glamorous woman with blown out hair. The image is in black and white but her lipstick is bright red. Over her eyes it reads Figaro.

Figaro: An Original Musical is the tale of Sienna, a young woman who dreams of singing but feels imprisoned by her life on her father’s farm. Playing for just two performances at the London Palladium from 3 to 4 February, this show is not to be missed – book your tickets at Official London Theatre.
