Christmas In New York brings together festive songs from the musicals with a sprinkling of more traditional fare in a seasonal West End celebration.

Evoking a magical time of year in a much loved city and now in its third successful year, Christmas In New York is a multi-layered chocolate box of musical moments; a unique confection offering a veritable variety of flavours infused with creative invention and reinterpretation at every turn.

Christmas In New York is the seasonal offering from the Notes From New York team which has spent the last five years bring new work by both American and British musical theatre composers to the London stage.

The show’s cast of West End stars is led by three-time Laurence Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman, who has previously appeared in productions including Chicago, Lady In The Dark, Passion, Ragtime, Sunday In The Park With George and The Woman In White.

Also among the cast of Christmas In New York is Notes From New York Associate Artist Julie Atherton. Having originated the role of Kate Monster/Lucy The Slut in the London production of Avenue Q, Atherton returns to the puppet show with a difference in December 2008.  

Other Christmas In New York cast members include Wicked’s Oliver Tompsett and Ashleigh Gray, Monty Python’s Spamalot’s Michael Xavier, Hairspray’s Adrian Hansel and Zoe Rainey, Blood Brothers’s Richard Reynard, and Lorna Want who previously appeared in the London productions of Footloose and Evita.

In the spirit of fostering young talent, Christmas In New York features a brand new title song this year, which Notes From New York has commissioned from the burgeoning composer Michael Bruce, who won last year’s Notes For The Stage composition competition. Bruce also orchestrates and arranges other material for the show, which features a string octet.
