Following his 2009 Sadler’s Wells debut, Bruno Beltrão returns to the venue with CRACKz, a new show dedicated to the cultural dissemination and appropriation that has been made possible through the use of computer technology.
Acclaimed choreographer Beltrão is renowned for his unique style, which questions masculine structures of movement and the stereotypes of hip hop. His work combines elements of urban dance with contemporary influences, straddling the border between the analytic and the physical.
In the making of CRACKz, Beltrão asked his dancers to select choreographic material found on the internet in order to develop a nomadic piece of dance that has no roots.
Beltrão’s company Grupo De Rua was founded in 1996. Since then the company has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide, building up a reputation for its deconstructions of traditional hip hop dance and unique choreography exploring theatrical space.
