Award-winning actress Anne-Marie Duff returns to the National Theatre for Husbands And Sons, a new play drawing together three of DH Lawrence’s finest dramas.
Husbands And Sons is set on the cracked border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, home to the village of Eastwood, where the wives and mothers struggle to hold families and souls together in the shadow of the great Brinsley pit.
Duff has previously appeared in National Theatre productions including Strange Interlude, King Lear and Saint Joan, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination. On screen she is best known for series including Elizabeth – The Virgin Queen and Shameless, while her films include Nowhere Boy and The Magdalene Sisters.
She is joined in the cast by Sherlock’s Louise Brealey and Brealey’s Constellations co-star Joe Armstrong.
Husbands And Sons is directed by Marianne Elliott, whose previous productions include The Elephantom, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and War Horse.
Public tickets go on sale 24 July.
