The story of one woman’s fight for freedom and fulfilment on her own terms, Jane Eyre charts the title character’s journey, from her beginnings as a destitute orphan through poverty, injustice and the discovery of bitter betrayal to her ultimate decision to follow her heart.

This acclaimed re-imagining of Brontë’s masterpiece, which is directed by Sally Cookson, was first staged by the Bristol Old Vic in 2014, when the story was performed over two evenings.

At the National Theatre, the much-celebrated production is presented as a single, exhilarating performance.
