English National Ballet presents the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty in a special production that’ll enchant the whole family.
As a baby, Princess Aurora is cursed by the evil Carabosse. On her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Her godmother the Lilac Fairy alters the spell so Aurora will not die but will sleep for 100 years, only to be awoken by true love’s kiss.
From Aurora’s christening in the grand hall of the palace to her jubilant wedding celebrations, the popular story of Sleeping Beauty comes alive on stage, performed by second-year students of the English National Ballet School.
Filled with colour, magic and romance, My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty will tell the story you know and love but with a few small differences that will help your little one enjoy the show. This production will have a narrator to help young audience members follow the spellbinding story of Aurora and her true love’s kiss. Plus, it’ll have a shortened version of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful melodies to help make it the ideal first encounter with dance.
Part of the My First Ballet series, which has been enjoyed by over 290,000 people since its creation in 2012, My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty is the perfect introduction to the beauty of ballet, and a fantastic family day out for kids and parents alike.
