Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is the incredible Olivier Award-winning show that takes audience suggestions and transforms them into an all-singing, all-dancing musical, unpredictable and hilarious results.
Creating a real musical from scratch with a new story, character, music and choreography, The Showstoppers! have previously conjured hits including Emotional Baggage, a First Class Heathrow Airport-set romance, and Sweeney Cod, the tale of a fish shop owner with music reminiscent of Kander and Ebb.
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical’s Olivier Award-winning run follows the show’s first ever full West End season at the Apollo Theatre in autumn 2015. A grand total of eighty new musicals experienced their West End premiere in their first West End season, and so the brilliant musicians and actors returned to Theatreland this year to play a limited number of Monday performances at the Lyric Theatre.
Created by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, the show sees the creators joined in the cast by Ruth Bratt, Justin Brett, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Sean McCann, Philip Pellew, Andrew Pugsley, Oliver Senton, Lucy Trodd and Sarah-Louise Young.
With a BBC Radio Four series, and eight years of festivals and touring, to their name, The Showstoppers’ unique brand of quick wit, rapid reflexes, deep musical knowledge and sheer spontaneity have allowed them to transform even the most testing of audience call-outs into fully-fledged musical numbers, dance routines and – rumour has it, Lin-Manuel Miranda fans – rap battles.
A truly unique experience for every audience member, every Showstopper! The Improvised Musical performance is a hit production waiting to happen, with everything created live and on the spot. From murder mysteries to romcom dazzlers, and Hamlet to Hamilton, nothing is ruled out as possible inspiration – so seeing Showstopper! could be your chance to witness your dream musical on stage before your very eyes.
