Based on her own experiences as a Korean-born woman adopted and raised in the UK, This Isn’t Romance explores the issues around the subject of cross-cultural adoption, centring on a character who returns to her native Korea and begins a highly charged relationship with the brother she left behind. In doing so, she hopes to answer the questions she has grown up with – why does Korea give away so many of its babies?; and can cross-cultural adoptees every really identify with either country?
