Charlie extends until 2015

Published 27 January 2014

Theatre lovers now have until 30 May 2015 to journey inside Willy Wonka’s top secret factory with the news that Sam Mendes’ hit production of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory has extended its run for a third time at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

The musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much-loved story opened at the venue in June 2013, when it was described by Official London Theatre’s Charlotte Marshall as a “slick and visually spectacular take on the classic”.

Featuring music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with a book by David Greig, the production’s musical numbers include The Double Bubble Duchess, If Your Mother Was Here, It Must Be Believed To Be Seen and the original movie hit Pure Imagination.

Starring Douglas Hodge as the eccentric confectioner alongside a cast including Nigel Planer, Clive Carter, Roni Page and Myra Sands, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory follows the story of young Charlie Bucket, one of the five lucky children to be allowed a tour of Wonka’s treat-filled factory.

Theatregoers eager to join Charlie in this sugar-coated world of Oompa-Loompas, dancing squirrels and mouth-watering treats will be able to get their hands on tickets for the  new booking period from 7 February.
