Fun for all at Family Weekend

Published 17 February 2012

Sadler’s Wells’s Family Weekend is back this year with two more exciting children’s shows.

The two-day festival, which will be held on 9 and 10 April, will feature balletLORENT’s magical production Underneath The Floorboards and the drumming and dancing extravaganza Echoa.

Following its performance of Angelmoth in 2008, balletLORENT returns to the acclaimed dance house with Underneath The Floorboards, a captivating production that takes under-fives on a journey through a bottomless box, underneath the floorboards and into a strange magical world.

Choreographed by balletLORENT’s Artistic Director Liv Lorent, Underneath The Floorboards features fantastical sets, colourful costumes and original songs that keep children enthralled throughout the show.

Returning to Sadler’s Wells to make its main stage debut, Echoa’s rich mix of choreographic invention and musical orchestration is aimed at children over five years of age. The French company Arcosm uses drums, dancers and physical comedians to produce a show that blurs the boundaries between music and movement.

Parents and children will be able to get involved in the fun too with dance workshops based on Echoa’s music and dance taking place each day at 12:30. There will also be an array of other activities and games available for children of all ages throughout the venue.
