Halliwell in charity downpour

First Published 26 October 2012, Last Updated 26 October 2012

It was raining water, not men, on Geri Halliwell last night, when she joined the cast of Singin’ In The Rain to help raise money, and the water level, as part of BBC Children In Need’s POP Goes The Musical.

The former Spice Girl took to the soggy stage at the London show’s curtain call to perform alongside leading man Adam Cooper in a rendition of the famous title song, indulging her famously cheeky side and joining the West End star in trying to splash as much water onto the audience as possible.

Halliwell, who described performing in Singin’ In The Rain as “an absolute blast” and working with Cooper as “a privilege”, is one of a number of pop stars taking to London’s stages this autumn in support of Children In Need. X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and boy band Blue have already joined hit productions Les Misérables and Jersey Boys, while on 15 November Macy Gray, Stooshe and Joe McElderry will all be part of a very special performance of Michael Jackson musical Thriller Live.

Tickets can still be bought for this final POP Goes The Musical show, with £80 securing a top price seat, signed programme, Pudsey bear, complementary drink and entrance to a special after show part hosted by Pudsey with the chance of a few special appearances. Half the cost of each ticket, which can be bought at www.lastminute.com/pudsey, goes to the BBC Children In Need appeal, which aims to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Spice Girls fans who missed the Look At Me singer’s West End appearance won’t have too long to wait until they can at least hear their favourite songs sung on the London stage. Viva Forever!, the musical based on the era-defining tunes of the pop phenomenon that brought girl power to the world, begins its run at the Piccadilly theatre at the end of next month.
