In Pictures: A Wicked makeover

First Published 24 October 2014, Last Updated 1 August 2018

It is just a few days until American star Jennifer DiNoia will make her West End debut as Elphaba in the hit musical Wicked.

While she may be no stranger to the show – the actor boasts an eight year association with the hugely popular tale of Oz, appearing in both American and international productions – the role demands a skill uniquely associated with the show; greening up.

So, in preparation for her first performance on Monday, DiNoia has been busy practising with the make-up brush and emerald green paint that will transform her nightly into the iconic character.

Take a look at Matt Crockett’s stunning photos above and, if you’d like to know more about the process, check out our video feature in which we were lucky enough to experience the transformation for ourselves under the guidance of former Elphaba Louise Dearman.
