Lloyd Webber returns to hospital

Theatrical impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber has been re-admitted to hospital following his recent prostate cancer surgery.

A statement released on the producer and composer’s website confirms that while the initial operation had been a complete success, Lloyd Webber has developed a “post-operative chronic infection which needs immediate treatment”.

While this is undoubtedly a setback for Lloyd Webber’s recovery, he still hopes to be fit enough to return to work in 2010.

The new year will be a busy time for Lloyd Webber. Not only is he launching Love Never Dies, the follow-up to arguably his biggest musical theatre hit The Phantom Of The Opera, he will also be starting his latest televised search for a new leading musical theatre performer. In BBC show Over The Rainbow, the theatrical Lord is looking for an actress to play the iconic role of Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz.
