Mrs Henderson Presents, a new musical

Mrs Henderson Presents her full cast

Published 8 January 2016

Former EastEnders star Jamie Foreman will join the cast of Mrs Henderson Presents when the new musical opens in London next month.

Foreman, who played Derek Branning in the long-running soap, joins the previously announced original stars Tracie Bennett, Emma Williams and Ian Bartholomew in the musical adaptation of the Judi Dench-led film that runs at the Noël Coward Theatre from 9 February.

The show’s full cast also includes Robert Hands, Matthew Malthouse, Samuel Holmes, Katie Bernstein, Lizzy Connolly, Lauren Hood and Liz Ewing.

Originally a hit at the Theatre Royal Bath, Mrs Henderson Presents begins in 1937 and tells the story of an eccentric widow who turns her attention and money to a former cinema in Great Windmill Street. Reinventing the Windmill Theatre as a variety venue, when war looms a new type of act is needed to boost morale and profits, and Mrs Henderson invents The Windmill Girls, glamorous young women posing as nude statues.

The stage adaptation is written and directed by Olivier Award winner Terry Johnson, with music by George Fenton and Simon Chamberlain, who collaborated on the original film, and lyrics by Oscar winner Don Black.

Mrs Henderson Presents opens at the Noël Coward Theatre following A Christmas Carol, which brings its festive run to a close on 30 January.
