Amy Booth-Steel, the first contestant to be voted out of I’d Do Anything, has bounced back from defeat to land a part in new musical comedy All Bob’s Women.
The 24-year-old Birmingham School of Acting graduate stars alongside Nicole Faraday, Sharon Cherry Ballard, Danielle Corlass, Sam Oatley, Tanya Robb and Lucy Thatcher in the show which runs at the Arts from 18 June to 24 August (press night 24 June).
All Bob’s Women, by Italian writer/composer Romy Padovano, follows the eponymous Bob, who is on a mission to seduce five different women, keeping each of the quintet in the dark about his other four conquests. Such an extreme plan calls for extreme measures.
Booth-Steel was voted off the BBC’s search for a Nancy, I’d Do Anything, in the first week, when she found herself fighting for survival against former Rent Remixed star Francesca Jackson. The Birmingham native toured in the 2007 production of Scooby Doo, but the closest she has previously come to the West End stage was working as an usher at The Sound Of Music.
Faraday appeared in both the cult television series and the stage musical of Bad Girls, though in different roles; Snowball Merriman on screen and Shell Dockley on stage. Her other stage credits include the UK tour of Over The Rainbow and Marilyn The Musical at Greenwich theatre.
The creative team behind All Bob’s Women boasts a pair of award winners. Director Russell Labey’s production of Whistle Down The Wind at West Yorkshire Playhouse, which he adapted and directed, won the TMA Award for Best New Musical, and Lighting Designer Mike Robertson won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Lighting Design for his work on Sunday In The Park With George (Wyndham’s).
