This winter children will be invited to explore a magical frozen forest in Punchdrunk’s new family show The House Where Winter Lives.
Playing from 29 November to 13 January at Stratford’s Discover Children’s Story Centre, the venue has collaborated with the hugely successful immersive theatre company’s Enrichment programme, a project formed in 2008 to offer unique experiences for children, schools and community groups.
Following Punchdrunk’s acclaimed foray into children’s theatre with The Crash Of The Elysium, The House Where Winter Lives is described as an “awe-inspiring show for three to six year olds” and will transform Discover’s basement space into a magical landscape for children and their families to explore.
There two forest dwellers will invite audiences to join them in a warm and welcoming cottage as they prepare for winter; but unfortunately they’ve mislaid a very important key. Children will be asked to wrap up warm and take a journey through a secret forest to discover the clues to find the missing key.
Sally Goldsworthy, Discover’s Chief Executive, spoke of her excitement about the forthcoming production, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Punchdrunk Enrichment to Discover, to create a fantastic immersive experience for very young children and their families.”
Pete Higgin, Enrichment Director at Punchdrunk, praised the venue, saying: “Discover is an amazing place for families and young children to be inspired by storytelling. Their dedication to interactive playing and learning fits in perfectly with our work at Punchdrunk Enrichment and we’re extremely excited to be working with them. “
The House Where Winter Lives will offer two different types of performances; family performances for three to six year olds, as well as class performances for Foundation, Years 1 and 2.
