Tickets have gone on sale today for the National Theatre’s Hedda Gabler, which will star Rafe Spall, Ruth Wilson and Kyle Soller.

In an updated version by Patrick Marber (Three Days In The Country, The Red Lion), Ivo van Hove will make his National Theatre directing debut with the classic play. Ivo will remake the production, which he previously directed at New York Theatre Workshop and Toneelgroep Amsterdam, for the NT with British actors.

Ruth Wilson (Luther, The Affair) will play the title role alongside a cast which includes Rafe Spall (Constellations), Chukwudi Iwuji (currently playing Hamlet for the Public Theatre in New York), Kate Duchêne, Éva Magyar, Sinéad Matthews and Kyle Soller (who currently stars as Francis in the BBC’s Poldark). The lighting and set will be designed by Jan Versweyveld, with costumes designed by An D’Huys and sound by Tom Gibbons.

Previews are from 5 December in the Lyttelton Theatre and the press night will be held on 12 December.

Hedda Gabler will be broadcast by NT Live to cinemas around the world on 9 March with encore performances from 23 March.
