Royal Academy of Dance announces new children’s workshops

Published 18 November 2011

If you have a budding young dancer at home, RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) has announced four new workshops for 4 to 18 year olds which offer an introduction or further training in the world of dance.

The Boys Only! Weekend in December is a two day course offering boys aged 8 to 18 the chance to experience dance, whether it be for the first time or part of ongoing training.

Running on 17 and 18 December, the weekend comprises ballet and contemporary dance workshops taught by experienced and inspiring male teachers.

For musical lovers, children aged 7 to 13 can learn choreography from the West End musical Footloose in a fun and exhilarating workshop on 26 February.

If ballet is more their style, on 18 March 4 to 11 year olds can attend a workshop to discover the world of classical ballet through dance, music, acting, basic make-up and storytelling.

Dance students over the age of 10 studying Grade 4 ballet or above can attend a Swan Lake workshop on the same day. Participants will have the chance to study a scene from the famous ballet, learn the choreography and how to apply stage make-up.

All day workshops take place at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea and culminate in a presentation for parents and guardians. For more details and to book, visit www.rad.org.uk or contact Katie Hart on 020 7326 8025.
