Swede is big at Roundhouse

First Published 7 September 2010, Last Updated 7 September 2010

Following yesterday’s announcement of cabaret show La Soirée, another star of La Clique will return to London this Christmas. Magician Carl-Einar Häckner will stage his show Big In Sweden at Camden’s Roundhouse from 2 to 22 December.

As the title of his show suggests, Häckner is well-known in his native Sweden, where his annual variety show is broadcast every New Year’s Day on Swedish television. Labelled a ‘masterful fool’, Häckner’s wacky brand of performance combines magic with slapstick comedy, music and illusion.

The magician first showed off his skills to London audiences as part of the Laurence Olivier Award-winning cabaret show La Clique, which enjoyed a lengthy run at London’s Hippodrome and a Christmas season at the Roundhouse.

While Häckner performs in Camden, south of the river some of his former La Clique colleagues will be entertaining Londoners in La Soirée, performed in a portable venue lodged on the South Bank.
