First Published 29 July 2015, Last Updated 29 July 2015

Wicked star Willemijn Verkaik will play a one off solo concert at London’s Ambassadors Theatre next month taking fans on a journey through a selection of musical theatre’s most iconic show tunes.

The acclaimed Dutch performer is famed for her performances as Wicked’s green-skinned heroine Elphaba in the West End, on Broadway, in Germany and in the Netherlands, making her the only actor to have performed the much-loved role in not one but three languages.

Verkaik last year swapped the Emerald City for Spain when she starred in the West End premiere of Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown The Musical. Her roles outside of London include productions of Mamma Mia!, Aida and We Will Rock You in Germany, as well as voicing the 21st century’s favourite Disney heroine Elsa in the Dutch and German versions of the supremely successful Frozen.

Willemijn Verkaik In Concert will feature a live band and still to be announced special guests. The acclaimed singer promises to whisk audiences through a whistle-stop tour of the greatest classic and contemporary musicals, including several numbers that have defined her own career to date.

The intimate concert will take place on 25 August before Verkaik flies off to New York for two further performances for her equally doting fans across the Atlantic.
