Women On The Verge of closing

Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown The Musical has announced it will end its run at the Playhouse Theatre on 23 May.

The producers of the critically acclaimed musical that had been booking to 22 August offered no explanation for its early closure, but released a statement saying: “We’re very proud of this production, our superb cast and creative team, and the wonderful critical and audience response during the season.”

Based on Pedro Almodóvar’s much-loved 1998 film, the colourful stage adaptation stars Tamsin Greig and Haydn Gwynne, both of whom received Olivier Award nominations for their roles as women juggling their everyday lives with an extraordinary turn of events featuring romantic entanglements and criminal lovers.

The show made its West End premiere last December when Official London Theatre raved: “There couldn’t be a better time for this uplifting and entertaining musical to arrive in the West End…. Comedy musicals don’t get much better than this.”

While London theatregoers still have a month to catch the show at the Playhouse Theatre, the musical is preparing for a life outside of the UK with negotiations currently taking place for productions to be staged in Australia, Japan and Germany.
