Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine were inspired to create Sunday In The Park With George by Georges Seurat’s pointillist masterpiece A Sunday Afternoon On The Island Of La Grande Jatte. The musical takes two distinct halves: the first, set in 1884, sees the objects of Seurat’s painting come to life in a world where art is everything; the second is set a century later, as Seurat’s great-grandson strives to find inspiration amid America’s contemporary art world.

The cast for this production, the first London revival of Sunday In The Park With George since the National’s 1990 production, is packed full of West End musical talent, led by Anna-Jane Casey and the Olivier Award-winning Daniel Evans.
